Cook/Serve Meals

Dinner is an opportunity to dine and fellowship with the Bridge Family. We are looking for individuals, families or groups to come in, prepare dinner and eat with our wonderful staff and kids. We can provide the food or you may bring your own food as well!

Please note: Uncooked food must be prepared on our premises. We will welcome you with a huge smile and a loving environment.

The volunteer hours for cooking dinner for the youth are 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (daily). *48-hour advance notice required.

Recreation Volunteer

Are you interested in playing basketball, volleyball, soccer, pool, ping pong, cards, dominoes or other board games with our youth? We have opportunities in the afternoon and early evening for these types of activities.

Tutoring

Join our after-school tutoring group at either campus. We are looking for reading, math, and creative writing coaches and general homework help.

Life Skills Groups

Use your distinctive skills to help our youth be independent and successful! We are looking for community leaders who can provide one-time lessons in personal finance, college planning, interview techniques, sewing, job readiness, public transportation use, cooking or anything else that would be practical and beneficial.

Miami Bridge Charms

Miami Bridge Charms is our very own jewelry workshop program made possible by Nancy Blechman. Once a month, Miami Bridge youth gather to express their creativity and own individual style by making bracelets. This therapeutic activity also allows the youth to have a finished product that they will no doubt cherish forever. Requires adult supervision.

Personal Care / Hygiene

It is vital to help our youth look and feel their best. To this end, we provide haircuts, manicures and pedicures, and other personal-care services to our youth on a regular basis. If you are a beautician interested in making a difference, we need you!

Photographers

Professional and aspiring photographers can donate their time and talent by providing portrait sessions or self-esteem boost sessions to the youth that we serve. Portrait photos will be used to assist with resume-building activities. Self-esteem boost sessions will be used for Miami Bridge website, social media and creative outlets for the organization. These special projects will team up with hair and makeup specialists to help the youth look their best and have fun taking creative, self-esteem boosting shots.

Landscaping / General Maintenance

During spring and fall, large groups assist with landscaping projects such as weeding, planting, raking, shrub trimming and painting.

Mentor

Calling all mentors to Tuesday nights. Join Miami Bridge board member Alfred Karram, Jr. and his team of mentors from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. every Tuesday night at our Central campus.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor at our Homestead campus, we are now accepting sign-ups for a future group.

Day and time will depend on interest.

Administrative / Clerical / IT Support

Organize a Speakers Bureau

Are you interested in telling your colleagues about the great work that is being done for children and families in your own community? Miami Bridge would love to visit your workplace and talk about how people can partner with us to make a real difference in the lives of youth and families in crisis.

Organize a Drive or Fundraiser

Organize a drive to secure items on the Miami Bridge Wish List (Amazon, Target, etc.). Each program has different needs for the youth it serves.

Young Professionals Group

Miami Bridge Champions is a young professionals group dedicated to supporting Miami Bridge’s mission through volunteerism, fundraising, education and awareness. There is no age restriction—all are welcome to join, even if you are only “young at heart.”

Become a Volunteer

Interested in volunteering or Corporate Social Responsibility “Day of Service” projects?

Please note: Individuals interested in ongoing volunteer service at Miami Bridge must be approved by the agency prior to participation. The application process to become an ongoing volunteer may take several weeks and includes the following steps:

– Volunteer application
– Background check through the Miami-Dade Police Department ($5 cost)
– Interview and reference checks
– Volunteer training/orientation

If you are interested in volunteering more than 10 hours per month, there are additional requirements including a drug test, TB screening and complete background screening through the Department of Juvenile Justice. There is a cost of $100 for these items which is reimbursable after 50 hours of volunteer service.
