Dr. Alecia Rodriguez shares journey from foster care to doctorate, highlighting Miami Bridge’s lasting impact

LSF Miami Bridge is recognizing advisory board member Dr. Alecia Rodriguez, who was featured on WPLG Local 10’s Good News South Florida segment on June 19, 2026, for her journey from foster care to earning a doctorate and helping others.

In the segment, Dr. Rodriguez describes how her childhood experiences with trauma, instability and multiple foster placements led her to Miami Bridge Youth & Family Services, which she credits as a turning point in her life.

Rodriguez is now a licensed psychotherapist, nonprofit founder and foster parent. Through her organization, Sadie’s Daughter, she provides mentorship, resources and support to children and young adults in foster care, serving hundreds across South Florida.

She also continues to give back personally, opening her home as a foster parent and supporting youth in need. Her experience at the Bridge, where she found stability and support as a teenager, continues to shape her work and advocacy efforts.

Rodriguez’s feature on Good News South Florida highlights both her accomplishments and the ongoing impact of LSF Miami Bridge programs in helping young people find safety, support and hope.
