A recent CBS News Miami “Miami Life” segment highlighted the inspiring journey of former youth in our care, Daniela Deas, a human trafficking survivor turned community leader and founder of Survivors Hope.
As a teenager facing challenges at home, Deas found support and stability through Miami Bridge, Miami-Dade County’s only emergency shelter for youth ages 10 to 17 experiencing crisis. The program provided a safe environment, guidance and resources that helped her navigate a difficult chapter in her life and build a path toward success.
Today, Deas is paying that support forward through Survivors Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Through advocacy, education and direct services, Daniela Deas helps individuals rebuild their lives and find opportunities for healing and growth.

Raymond Ballinger, Southeast Florida Regional Director for Lutheran Services Florida, also emphasized the importance of providing youth with safe spaces, caring adults and the resources they need to overcome adversity.
Danielle’s story is a powerful example of how early intervention and compassionate support can change lives. Her journey reflects the ethos of LSF Miami Bridge: helping youth in crisis find hope, stability and a brighter future.
